Free Car Owners Manuals - Ford Fusion General Information

Free Car Owners Manuals - Ford Fusion logoThe Ford Fusion is a mid-size car produced next to the Ford Motor Company since the 2006 model year. The Fusion is manufactured at Ford’s Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, where the similar Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ are also built.

Debuting in 2006, the Ford Fusion has come a lengthy way as a mid-sized sedan. Justifying the word fusion, the car has a mix of good attributes and not-so-good attributes. The 2009 Ford Fusion medium sized sedan combines roomy interiors with its different style and sporty performance. Critics have lauded this car for its convenient driving and handling, reasonably good looks and value for the MSRP of $18,620 to $25,190 spent. While stability control has finally been added as an option, the question remains: why is stability control just an option? Performance is just as you would expect in such a low-priced sedan, merely okay.

Customers can go for the 4-cylinder trims or the V6 flavors. In all, there's seven available trims in the 2009 Ford Fusion. The S, SE, SEL trims come in l4 flavor and SE, SEL, SE AWD, as well as SEL AWD are available in the V6 category. While the 2.3 liter four cylinder trims offer manual as well as optional automatic transmission and 160 horsepower, the 3.0 L V6 engines do slightly better, offering 221 hp. All V6 trims come with traction control and automatic transmission. One of the good things is that this car comes with all wheel drive, which is rare in similarly priced cars in this category. The car gets some of its sporty feel due to the stretched chassis, while the Sport Appearance Package assists in adding to the sporty drive quality.

Reasonable 4-speaker audio, keyless entry, tilt-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, as well as AC are standard on base trim. The SE adds foglamps, trip computer, radio controls at steering wheel, 6-way power driver seat. SEL includes multicolor ambient lights, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, better upholstery, as well as automatic climate control among other features.

Safety is good, with the sedan getting a five on five rating from NHTSA Driver’s Crash Rating test. As regards other options, the 2009 Ford fusion comes with a nice Blue Suede Package and an optional, much-awaited stability control feature. The Sun and Sync Package comes with SE while SEL has optional Moon and Tune Package. The blue Suede Package adds ambient lighting and Alcantara blue trim inserts and seats. Stand-alone options include reverse parking sensors and a touchscreen navigation method for the SEL.

Good interiors, ride quality, AWD and sporty feel along with Sync electronics boost the image of the car, whereas the powertrains and a few weird controls spoil the impression somewhat. Nevertheless, buy the car if you want an affordably priced, convenient vehicle without bothering about high fuel economy.
